@natparkhopper When are you planning to come? I love Balsam Mtn area (roads closed now) and Lakeshore and 20 mile are also quiet.

Yesterday: a snow hike. Today: mid 60’s. First 2010 butterfly, spider and fly seen fluttering, crawling and buzzing.

@BeatUpRoadSign Thanks for the heads up. The news release we were all sent was for 40 head instead of 400. 40 seemed insanely low!

Elk will remain a protected species in N Carolina – for now. This will change as herd grows and/or creates more issues.

TN to have elk hunt this fall with 5 permits ? 4 for the public. The total TN elk population is only about 40!
